My Adventure to China

Beijing Urban Planning Center

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Hi!
Ever sense we landed in China things have been amazing. Today we went to The Beijing Urban Planning Center. To be completely honest, I thought that this was going to be terribly boring with one person just lecturing us. To my surprise, it was the complete opposite. The Center was incredible! It was huge (much bigger than I had expected) and everything around just drew you in. The first thing we did was go up a few levels to a huge map of Beijing which was made of metal. It hung on the wall and was sooo cool! After that, we continued on by looking at many models. The one that I remember the most was the mini version of Beijing. The ENTIRE city. It took 200 people less than a year to make (half a year to be exact). It had lights and it really REALLY looked the city. We were even able to find where our hotel is (home away from home) on the mini model. So far I honestly can't complain about one thing. Everything is different and new. I can't help but learn every single day. I can't wait to see how the rest of this incredible journey plays out!

I'm glad you are enjoying learning so much about China. You really are getting to do a lot of things that people pay really good money to get to do. Seize the opportunity! Karen Wells DSA South Africa

Your description of the map intrigues me, especially the way you portray the map of Beijing. I don't remember any other blogger on this trip mentioning this metal map. Do keep blogging; I am enjoying your posts with their rich details.
